Microsoft is also matching the features of the PS3 and Nintendo's Wii by adding built-in Wi-Fi to the 360, ending its practice of requiring users to connect with a wire or to buy an add-on wireless adapter.

Microsoft said the Kinect motion controller will go on sale Nov. 4 but declined to give its price, extending the suspense around a device that first appeared at E3 last summer. Speculation in the game media places its price around $130.

At $299 for a model with a 250-gigabyte hard drive, the console is priced the same as the current 250-gigabyte version. Inside, the new one has an integrated graphics processor and 45 nanometer CPU.
